Message from the Head

A little bit about our school. Our designation is for pupils with a severe learning difficulty. That means that all of our pupils (aged 3 up to 19) are working cognitively in the first five years of life, and the vast majority are working cognitively within the first three years of life.

We are organised on a primary model across the school - we work 1:1, or in small groups of 2 or 3 with our pupils, whatever their age. Most of our pupils go on to follow a SEND pathway at college when they leave here. There is a big focus from the start on skills for life, e.g. being able to get dressed, make a drink, make a snack, make meaningful choices about leisure time.

Roughly 15% of our cohort have very complex needs, including complex medical and physical needs. Approximately 55% of our pupils have a diagnosis of autism as well as a severe learning difficulty.
